By late November the forest at Moose Hill has shifted into survival mode, and this family hike looks for the quiet adaptations that get plants and animals through the cold: thick bark, seed caches, leaf litter as insulation and more. Families learn how species from the red squirrel to the dormant oak make it to spring and why it matters for the whole ecosystem, then head inside to make a winter-adaptation craft to take home. For families with children ages 5 to 12; 90 minutes; trails may be wet or slippery, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
