Public skating $10.00; adults 62 and up free with valid ID; skate rentals $10.00, first come, first servedHelmets (bike or HECC-approved) are highly recommended; FMC has no helmets to rent or borrow. Adaptive equipment such as ice sleds and walkers is available at many FMC rinks; call ahead.

Simoni Skating Rink on Gore Street in East Cambridge is a DCR indoor ice rink that FMC Ice Sports has operated since 2005, and its public skating sessions are open to everyone, beginners included. A public session costs $10 and skate rentals are another $10; adults 62 and up skate free with a valid ID. There is a snack bar and skate sharpening on site. Bay State Skating School and Cambridge Youth Hockey also use the ice, so public skating fits around their programs (on October 21, 2026 it ran 2:00-4:00 pm). Bring a helmet (bike or HECC-approved; none to rent), mittens and warm layers, and check the rink's full public skating calendar for the day's times before setting out.
