About this adventure

Polar-Palooza is the Kane County Forest Preserve District's popular midwinter family festival at Creek Bend Nature Center. The District describes it as a nature-based arcade: families move through a flurry of nature activities, crafts and games indoors and outdoors, earning tickets at each one that children trade in for prizes at the end. Hot chocolate and cookies are served while you play. Activities are pitched so that all ages can take part, from preschoolers to older kids and grandparents, which makes it a good outing for mixed-age groups and friends in the slow weeks after the holidays. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Some stations are outside in LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, so bring boots, hats and mittens. The festival runs for three hours, so you can drop in at any point and stay as long as the kids are having fun.
