The City of Forney opens its holiday season with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Bell Park on the first Thursday evening of December. The celebration features Christmas music, free hot chocolate, a special visit from Santa and the lighting of the Bell Park Christmas tree. It runs from 6 to 8 pm, an easy weeknight outing for families with young children in Kaufman County. No admission fee is listed. The same weekend Forney hosts Christmas on Main downtown on Saturday afternoon, so families can plan both. Dress warmly for an outdoor evening and bring a camera for Santa.
