Russell Farm Art Center in Burleson hosts a free country Christmas on a Saturday in mid-December. Families move between Christmas craft stations, take pictures with a donkey wearing antlers (bring your own camera) and enjoy other family-friendly holiday activities on the grounds of the historic farm. This year's event also kicks off the farm's 150th anniversary celebration in 2027: Martha Glenn Russell settled the property with her five children on Christmas Eve 1877, so Christmas has been part of the farm's story from the start. The event runs 10 am to 2 pm and admission is free, which makes it an easy drop-in for families with young children who want a low-key, outdoors-and-crafts holiday outing in Johnson County.
