McKinney Main Street's Home for the Holidays fills Historic Downtown McKinney over Thanksgiving weekend, November 27–29, 2026. Admission is free all three days. The weekend starts with the Community Tree Lighting at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, when a real Christmas tree is lit in the middle of downtown. Throughout the weekend there's live Christmas music and holiday performances, Santa and other costumed holiday characters for meet-and-greets and photos, kids' and family activities spread around the district, a Ferris wheel over the decorated square, and life-size 'Holiday Post Card' photo backdrops. Saturday is also Small Business Saturday, with more than 180 local shops and restaurants open. Only some rides and attractions cost extra. Streets inside the festival area close to traffic. A free shuttle runs about every 15 minutes from First McKinney Baptist Church (1615 W. Louisiana St.), but not on Sunday. A festival map will be posted closer to the date.
