A two-hour hands-on class for 5- to 9-year-olds at River Legacy Nature Center in Arlington, held during Thanksgiving week. Children look at how simple machines show up in nature and how animals use these "tools" to survive and thrive. The class combines a STEM experiment with a simple-machine hunt, so children are both experimenting at a table and searching for examples. It runs on Monday, November 23, from 10 am to noon, which can suit families whose children are out of school that week. Registration and payment are through the nature center's Jumbula page; the fee is not printed on the event page. There are no refunds for absences or cancellations, including weather, and payments count as a donation to environmental education.
