Flower Mound's Historical Commission opens the Gibson-Grant Log House for an Old Settlers Christmas on a Saturday in mid-December. Visitors step back into Texas-frontier holiday traditions with demonstrations of butter churning and corn shucking, family Christmas caroling and crafting tree decorations, along with warm cider and old-fashioned popcorn balls. It runs from 10 am to 2 pm and no registration is required, so families can drop in after Breakfast with Santa across town. The log house stays decorated for Christmas until the new year. It is a hands-on way for school-age children to see how early settlers in the area celebrated, and the short, come-and-go format works for younger siblings too. No admission fee is listed.
