About this adventure

The Michigan Philharmonic, a professional orchestra led by Music Director Nan Washburn, brings its Holiday POPs concert to the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts on a Sunday afternoon in mid-December. The program travels through the season's traditions, with music for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the winter solstice and Christmas, and it ends the way the Phil's holiday pops always do: a rousing audience sing-along and the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. At 4 pm on a weekend and about two hours long, it is a manageable first orchestra concert for school-age children who can sit through a performance. The lobby opens at 3 pm for a Toys for Tots drive, so families can bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate, which is a nice way to involve kids in giving. Tier 1 seats are $44; Tier 2 seats are $34 for adults, $29 for seniors and $22 for students. Tickets are sold through the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.
