The Goodfellows' Taylor Winterfest 5K kicks off the City of Taylor's annual holiday celebration day at Heritage Park. The race has running, walking and children's options: a kids' run is tentatively set for 9:30 a.m., with the 5K following at 10:00 a.m. Registered participants get a finisher medal, a long-sleeve T-shirt, runner snacks and treats, and hot cocoa at the finish line, and there are age-group awards. Registration fees vary with how early you sign up, and online registration offers early-bird discounts. All proceeds go to the Taylor Goodfellows, the local charity that supports families in need at the holidays. The same day ends with Taylor's free Winterfest Day Celebration and tree lighting at the Sheridan Center pavilion, so families can make a full day of it.
