Taylor's annual Winterfest Day Celebration fills the Sheridan Center Open Air Pavilion at Heritage Park on the first Saturday in December. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with live bands and music, games and crafts for kids, holiday characters roaming the grounds, and food and refreshments for sale. Once Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive, the official tree lighting takes place at around 6:00 p.m., followed immediately by fireworks. Admission is free. The city notes there will be no parade this year. Earlier the same morning the Goodfellows' Winterfest 5K and kids' run are held at Heritage Park. Dress warmly: the pavilion is open-air.
