The Redford Township Police Department runs a free monthly Junior Police Program for kids ages 10 to 14. Participants learn how the department works: tours of the station, how to handcuff, how officers search buildings and perform traffic stops, and more. Parents are encouraged to come along, and snacks are served at each meeting. The program meets on the last Tuesday of every month from September through May at 5:30 p.m. at the police department on Elsinore; dates in the window include November 24 and December 29, 2026. No registration is necessary, so a curious middle-schooler can simply show up. It suits kids interested in public safety careers or anyone who wants a behind-the-scenes look at local government.
