LA Kings Ice at Pickwick Gardens, long known as Pickwick Ice, has offered skating in Burbank since 1961 and took the LA Kings Ice name on January 1, 2019. Public skate is aimed at families and individuals who want to practise skating and get exercise in a safe, fun setting. There is usually one public session a day — weekday afternoons, a Saturday evening session and a Sunday afternoon session — but times change, so check the online calendar before going. Rental skates are included in admission, and reserving online in advance costs less than paying at the door. Skate aids can be rented for beginners. The house rules keep the ice orderly for children: no more than two people skating together, no tag or games, no headphones, no hockey sticks, and skaters may not carry children, phones or bags on the ice; figure skaters keep jumps and spins to the center. All sales are final. Pickwick also runs a Skating Academy with Learn to Skate semesters and Camp Chillin' camps for kids.
