Miami Ice Arena in the Hammocks area of West Kendall (the rink long known as Kendall Ice Arena, same address and phone) has a red rink and a blue rink and posts public skating with daytime sessions every day and evening sessions on most nights. Families with young children will find the weekday daytime and weekend morning sessions the calmest; Friday and Saturday late sessions (8:30–11:30 pm) have a live DJ and suit teens. Admission is $14, rental skates $6, and a Bobby the Seal trainer for beginners rents for $10; helmets rent for $5, so small children can be protected without bringing gear. Every skater needs the mandatory participation waiver, which can be completed online before the visit. The rink warns that sessions change around holidays and special events, so check the posted schedule before driving over. The arena also runs a skate school with Learn to Skate coaches, the Miami Figure Skating Club and youth hockey.
