Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale runs its own Panthers Skating Academy with the Learn to Skate USA curriculum, in 30-minute group classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Families choose a monthly package of 4, 6, 8 or unlimited classes and pick the days that suit them; each package also includes the same number of regular public skating sessions, which helps children practise. Children ages 3 to 6 register for Snowplow Sam 1 and ages 7 to 17 for Basic 1; skaters are assessed in the first weeks and moved to the right level, then progress at their own pace with a certificate at each level, toward figure skating or hockey. Helmets are required and not provided for Snowplow Sam 1–4, Basic 1 and Hockey 1 & 2. Rental skates cost $5, starting at youth size 8. Arrive 30 minutes early to check in for a wristband, dress in warm layers (no jeans), and bring gloves and thin socks that rise above the ankle. Registration is through a DASH/DaySmart account.
