About this adventure

During the holiday shopping season, Menomonee Falls Downtown turns errands into a game for kids with the "Where's Elfie" scavenger hunt. On three Saturday mornings in December, Elfie the elf appears live inside participating downtown businesses or out walking the streets from 10 a.m. to noon, and children who track the elf down get a photo and a candy cane treat. The Village's calendar describes the hunt as a just-for-kids event in which children find the names of sneaky elves hidden in downtown shops and turn in a playing card for a chance to win a make-and-take project with local stores; children ages 5 to 12 are eligible to win and must be accompanied by an adult, and players are asked to bring a nonperishable food item or donation for the Falls Area Food Pantry. It works best for early-elementary children who enjoy searching shop windows, and it pairs easily with a cookie or lunch stop downtown. Wear comfortable boots for walking between storefronts.
