American Repertory Ballet's Nutcracker, a production families have returned to for more than 60 years, plays three performances at Two River Theater in Red Bank on the first weekend of December. Set to Tchaikovsky's score, with full sets and costumes, it pairs the company's professional dancers with more than 100 students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of Clara, who receives a mysterious holiday gift and journeys with her Nutcracker Prince through a battle with mischievous mice and a snow-filled forest. Performances are Saturday, December 5 at 1 and 6 pm and Sunday, December 6 at 1 pm. The company's New Brunswick run later in December adds a live orchestra. Tickets are sold through ARB's site.
