American Repertory Ballet brings its Nutcracker, a New Jersey holiday tradition for more than 60 years, to State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick for six performances, December 17–20. The New Brunswick run is the only one in the company's tour with a live orchestra and choir. Set to Tchaikovsky's score, the production pairs ARB's professional dancers with more than 100 students from Princeton Ballet School, telling the story of Clara, who receives a mysterious holiday gift and follows her Nutcracker Prince through a battle with mischievous mice and a snowy forest. Shows run Thursday, December 17 and Friday, December 18 at 7 pm; Saturday, December 19 at 2 and 7 pm; and Sunday, December 20 at 1 and 5 pm. Audio description is offered at the December 18, 7 pm and December 19, 2 pm performances. Tickets are sold through the company's site.
