About this adventure
The 17-piece Water Gap Jazz Orchestra returns to the Morris Museum's Bickford Theatre for a Saturday-afternoon holiday concert of Duke Ellington's swinging Nutcracker Suite and the band's own Grinch Suite. Vocalist Nancy Reed joins the big band, and Duke Ellington's grandson Edward Ellington II narrates — a nice way for children who know the Tchaikovsky ballet or the Dr. Seuss story to hear the tunes reimagined as jazz. A 2 pm start suits families, and the museum itself (with its Guinness Collection of mechanical musical instruments and rotating exhibits) can be visited the same day. Tickets include a non-refundable $3 handling fee and can also be bought by phone from the box office at 973-971-3706.
