A Kwanzaa drop-in craft at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. Children learn that a mkeka is the special mat used during Kwanzaa, on which families place symbolic items during the celebration, then weave strips of foam paper together to make their own mat to take home. Sessions run in the PlayWorks space on Sunday and Monday, December 27 and 28, at 11:15 am and 2:45 pm, each about an hour. The Children's Museum of Manhattan is designed for children ages 0–6; the program is included with museum admission (members free).
