About this adventure

Guthrie's Territorial Christmas season opens with a nighttime lighted parade through America's largest urban historic district. After the Opening Day festivities, the parade sets off at 6 p.m. from the Scottish Rite Temple and heads west along Oklahoma Avenue. Illuminated cars, trucks, dune buggies and people strung with lights take part, led by the Territorial Governor candidates. The organizers call it their one non-historic-themed event of the year and describe it as family friendly. The parade ends at the corner of 2nd Street and Oklahoma Avenue. The Territorial Governor ceremonies follow right away on the front steps of the Post Office, along with the governor races and tree lighting. Families can watch from the sidewalks along Oklahoma Avenue in downtown Guthrie; dress warmly for an evening outdoors. Groups that want to be in the parade register through the organizers' online form.
