About this adventure

Start 2027 outdoors with a guided New Year's Day walk led by the Brandywine Zoo's Conservation Science and Learning team, part of the national First Day Hikes movement. The group sets out from the zoo into Brandywine Park along the Brandywine River in Wilmington, and the guides talk about the history of the park and the zoo, the wildlife that lives in Delaware, and simple conservation actions families can turn into a New Year's resolution. The hike is listed as one hour, which suits school-age children and older kids who can walk on park paths; little ones may be more comfortable in a carrier. The hike is free, but the zoo strongly encourages registering ahead by email so the team knows how many walkers to expect. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
