About this adventure

The Ice Den Chandler, home of the Arizona Bobcats youth hockey teams and the Ice Denettes skating teams, opens its ice to the public for two-hour public skate sessions on select weekends, with extra sessions during school breaks. The holiday season is its busiest stretch: the price table lists Turkey Skate sessions on select dates from Nov 25 to Nov 29, Holiday Public Skate sessions on select dates from Dec 1 to Dec 23, and Winter Break sessions on select dates from Dec 26 to Jan 3. Every session includes rental skates (sizes run from toddler 6 to adult 15), family-friendly music and a 20-minute intermission. For young beginners the rink rents a limited number of skate trainers for $3 at the admin desk; a child using one must be accompanied by an adult skater, and small children may not be carried on the ice. The rink stays around 56 degrees, so bring jackets, gloves and warm socks; helmets are recommended. The Chilly Bean Café sells snacks and hot drinks during public sessions. The calendar is published monthly around the 15th, and a day with no time listed has no public skate.
