About this adventure
4 Peaks Racing's Halloween-morning triathlon at Anthem Merrill Ranch in Florence includes a youth triathlon and youth relay alongside the adult races, which makes it a friendly first race for kids who swim and bike. The youth course is a 200 m pool swim, a 6-mile bike and a 1.5-mile run; relays let two or three kids split the legs. Every finisher gets a medal and a long-sleeve race hoodie (or $10 off without it), and the top three boys and girls in the youth triathlon get awards. The youth race starts at 9:00 am, after the adult waves, and registration stays open until then, so families racing only a child do not need to arrive at dawn. The race is USA Triathlon-sanctioned, so each racer needs an annual USAT membership or a one-day license. Costumes fit the theme.
