Ballet Arizona's pilot Sensory Adapted Performance presents an abbreviated version of The Nutcracker (Act II only) at Symphony Hall, adapted for audience members who benefit from a more relaxed theatre environment, such as children with autism, sensory sensitivities or other needs. The artistic quality stays the same, but the setting is adjusted, and quiet spaces are available in the building. Before and after the show, families can browse the Nutcracker Boutique and take photos with the Sugar Plum Fairy. The company recommends researching Symphony Hall and its parking ahead of time and invites families to share feedback afterwards. The performance is billed as available for all ages. Questions go to the Ballet Arizona education team by email.
