Modeled on traditional European Christmas markets, The Mesa Christmas Market fills the Mesa Drive Park & Ride on the north side of Main Street in Downtown Mesa, across from the Mesa Temple and next to Pioneer Park, for three December evenings. Local artisans, makers and boutiques sell handmade gifts and seasonal goods from festival tents, a few food vendors offer European-style savory and sweet treats, and local artists perform holiday music on the event stage, with a performance every hour from 5:30 pm (the last starts at 8:30 pm). The organizers describe the market as designed for all ages. It is an outdoor, alcohol-free event held rain or shine, so dress for the weather, and well-behaved leashed pets are welcome. Admission is free. Children can also ride to meet Santa on the Mesa Santa Express, which boards in the same lot, and the Merry Main Street food truck forest at Pioneer Park is next door. Parking in the lot is limited; the organizers suggest the Gilbert Road Park and Ride, with free light rail rides from 5 to 10 pm.
