About this adventure
The Phoenix Zoo's evening 5K starts at 5:00 pm, runs through Papago Park and finishes inside ZooLights, so runners and walkers end among the lights. Registration includes a race T-shirt, admission to ZooLights for the evening and a cup of hot cocoa; before the start there are animal encounters and lakeside activity tables. Families can enter children as paying athletes, or bring them as spectators on a ZooLights-only ticket; children 2 and under are free (but get no shirt or food). Carousel and camel rides cost extra. Proceeds go to the zoo's new Doornbos Animal Rescue and Care Center. Packet pickup is at Road Runner Sports at Tempe Marketplace on January 12–13, or at the race-day tent from 4 pm. A family-friendly way to combine a run and the holiday lights in mid-January.
