About this adventure

The Lawrence County YMCA starts Thanksgiving morning with its annual 5K from the Y's building on West Washington Street in downtown New Castle, open to runners chasing a personal best, friends who want to walk it together, and whole families. The race begins at 9 a.m., and the YMCA's announcement says children 6 and under take part free, so younger kids can walk the course with a parent while older children run; age-group awards start with a 7–10 bracket. Signing up early costs less and secures a race shirt, and the fee rises closer to Thanksgiving and again on race day. Parking is beside the neighboring Burger King. This year's race is held in memory of David Chiafullo and is presented by Phil Fitts Ford & Lincoln.
