About this adventure
A free Día de Muertos talk at Nossa Familia Coffee's Central Eastside café, one of the satellite events of the Milagro Central Eastside Muertos Celebration. IDEAL PDX artist Marilyn Shawe, who designed the café's altar 'De la Tierra a la Taza: Raíces, Café y Memoria' (From Earth to Cup: Roots, Coffee, and Memory), talks about the cultural meaning and traditions of Día de Muertos and about her inspiration and process in building the altar. Families can look closely at the ofrenda and ask questions. Milagro lists it for all ages with an estimated run time of two hours; no reservation is needed. It falls on Halloween morning, the same day as Milagro's Altares y Muertos Tour, so it pairs easily with the tour or with a visit to the other altars on display around the Central Eastside.
