Theatre in the Grove has turned its Forest Grove theater into a walk-through haunted house for October, and on Halloween afternoon, from 4 to 6 pm, it is free to trick-or-treaters with no jump scares. This year's theme is Apocalypse in the Grove: it is 2056, aliens and their cyborg forces have overrun Portland, Forest Grove is next, and zombies have come out of the shadows too. Visitors make their way through the ruined city as refugees, or rent an optional laser-tag gun for $2 that sets off targets and effects along the route. The no-contact walk-through takes groups of six. The theater warns that it can include fog, laser and strobe lighting, loud noises, simulated fire and tight spaces, and children 12 and under must come with an adult. It is wheelchair accessible. Older kids who want the full scare can come back for the regular evening haunted house, which runs 7 to 10 pm on Halloween night with 30-minute timed entries at $13 per person online or $16 at the door.
