About this adventure
Field Scientists is Mass Audubon's oldest homeschool cohort at Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary in Attleboro, for ages 9 to 12. It follows the same seasonal nature curriculum as the younger groups but adds real conservation research: students tag monarch butterflies for Monarch Watch, contributing to its scientific data, and help raise Headstart turtle hatchlings for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The three-hour Thursday morning sessions, held roughly every other week from September through April, build field-observation skills, critical thinking and a sense that their work matters for regional species conservation. The program is paid for as a full season; families should check the program page for current registration status, since the year began in September.
