About this adventure
A free monthly birding walk at Dorothea Dix Park led by instructor Bella Insignares. Participants learn to identify the park's resident and migrating birds by sight and by ear — sparrows, woodpeckers, hawks and more — and add their sightings to a monthly survey of how bird diversity changes in the park, so kids get a taste of real citizen science. Bring binoculars if you have them; 15 sanitized pairs can be borrowed first come, first served. The 90-minute walk is entirely outdoors on hills, grass and uneven ground, so wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather. Free registration on Eventbrite is required and opens two weeks ahead.
