About this adventure

A 164-acre park around the North Carolina Museum of Art with 4.7 miles of paved and natural-surface trails, a terraced pond, gardens and large outdoor artworks that kids love to find, including Jeppe Hein's Mirror Labyrinth, Roxy Paine's 46-foot steel tree Askew and the giant Gyre rings. Families can download or pick up the Art + Nature + People scavenger hunt at the Welcome Center, use the bird checklist, or follow the All-Access Eco Trail: 13 stops with audio-described stories, large print, braille and touchable images, with a short wheelchair-accessible quarter-mile option on paved paths. Bikes and scooters are allowed on paved trails only; the Capital Area Reedy Creek Greenway runs through the park. The museum's East and West buildings with the People's Collection are also free (Wednesday–Sunday 10 am–5 pm).
