About this adventure

The Town of Apex's Family Basketball Ham Toss, presented by Lowes Foods of Apex, is a light-hearted holiday free-throw contest at the John M. Brown Community Center a week before Christmas. Each team is two members of the same family, one adult 18 or older and one child 17 or under, and the pair takes turns shooting foul shots over three rounds of three shots each; the team that sinks the most of its 18 attempts in its division wins a Smithfield holiday ham, with an extra round to break ties. Divisions are based on the youngest team member, so preschoolers shoot against preschoolers and teens against teens, and start times are staggered by age group from 6 pm. It is free and there is no pre-registration, which makes it an easy, active family outing for basketball fans of any skill level; one prize ham per family.
