About this adventure

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership lights the 60-foot holiday tree on K Street in Old Sacramento on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 25. Festivities start at 5:30 PM with pre-show performances by community groups and speakers, then the tree lighting, and the first Theatre of Lights show of the season follows at 6:15 PM. Theatre of Lights is a 20-minute retelling of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas played out on the balconies above K Street, with Sacramento history sound effects, light projections on the 150-year-old facades and an appearance by Jack Frost. The street is packed with standing spectators on this night: the organizers suggest the middle of K Street near Front Street as the best viewing spot, and you may bring your own chairs. ASL interpreters attend the tree lighting, and K Street has ADA ramps. Come early to park in the Old Sacramento garages and eat or shop before the show.
