The New Children's Museum

A season-of-giving family studio at The New Children's Museum downtown, led with To Do · A Mending Project, a social-practice art collective founded by artists Michelle Montjoy, Anna O'Cain and Siobhán Arnold. Families learn simple mending techniques, stitch their own fabric patches and take part in a community drive that gives gently used toys and clothing a second life, so it is worth bringing a bag of outgrown items. The two-hour morning session (9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 5) suits children old enough to handle a needle with a grown-up's help. While at the museum, families can also visit Montjoy's installation Breathing Room, a sensory-friendly space where visitors lie down, look up and breathe. The event page does not state a separate fee or age range; check the museum's calendar before visiting, as the museum itself advises.
