About this adventure
A short-run youth theater workshop in downtown Vista that takes kids from audition to opening night in about six weeks. On the first day each child sings a one-minute song of their choice and does acting exercises so the director can cast the show; scripts go home that day. Rehearsals then run on Saturday (and two Sunday) mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through mid-December, ending with four public performances of The Nightmare Before Christmas on December 21 and 22. Every registered child gets a speaking role, beginners are mixed with returning performers, and the theater says its shows are staged with full sets, costumes, sound and lighting. Each cast member is asked to sell 10 show tickets. Places are capped at 25, and families who enroll in all three of the theater's workshops save $25 per workshop.
