Sesame Place San Diego in Chula Vista runs its not-too-spooky Halloween celebration on select dates through Sunday, November 1, so the final two Halloween weekends are still ahead. Children are encouraged to come in costume; the park offers trick-or-treating around the grounds, Halloween-themed shows and DJ dance parties, the Sesame Street Halloween Parade, a costume parade and contest, and an interactive Spot-The-Ghost scavenger hunt, along with the park's Sesame Street-themed dry rides and water attractions. Photo opportunities feature Elmo, The Count and friends in their own Halloween costumes. Families who want more character time can book Halloween Dine with Elmo & Friends, a buffet meal with costumed characters, which is sold separately. The event is aimed squarely at preschool and early-elementary children and their families. It is part of a regular park visit; check the park's operating-hours calendar for which dates in the last two weeks of October the park is open, as the event runs on select dates only.
