About this adventure
The South Tacoma Branch repeats the Up and Atom ice investigation on a Friday afternoon. In this STEAM Days session, elementary and middle school students experiment with freezing and melting, checking how salt, temperature and pressure affect how quickly ice melts and how much weight it can hold, and talk through the phase changes they see. Tacoma Public Library's weekly Up and Atom series offers a different activity each time; this one is listed for Grades K-5 and 6-8, with no registration shown.
