About this adventure

The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA's Thanksgiving race starts from the plaza at Benchmark International Arena in downtown Tampa and bills itself as a fun out-and-back course for the whole family. The 5K run/walk begins at 7 a.m., with separate start corrals for runners, walkers and anyone pushing a stroller or bringing a pet; the untimed 1-mile fun run and walk follows at 8:15. The plaza opens at 5:30 a.m., and awards are announced from 8. Entry is $35 for the 5K until the price rises after October 31, and $25 for the mile; online registration for the mile closes at noon on November 25, and a virtual option costs $30 for anyone who cannot be there. Packets can be picked up at Dick's House of Sports at International Plaza on November 21, at the Brandon Town Center store on November 22, or at Armature Works on November 25. Proceeds pay for YMCA community programs, including the free 12-week Kids Thrivers Club for children affected by cancer and their families.
