About this adventure

The 18th annual FishHawk Turkey Trot takes over FishHawk Crossing Boulevard in Lithia on Thanksgiving morning; its organizers call it the largest road race in the area. There is a distance for every member of the family: a timed 10K and 5K at 8 a.m., an untimed 5K walk/run at 8:15, and at 9:15 a 1-mile fun run alongside a 250-yard mini-run 'for kids and kids at heart.' Each entry includes a T-shirt (while sizes last) and a race medal, with medals capped at 3,500. Fees run from $25 for the mini-run and $30 for the fun run or untimed 5K to $35 for the timed 5K and $45 for the 10K, plus a $2 administrative fee. Registrations benefit Seeds of Hope, a local food bank. Early packet pickup is Wednesday, November 25, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Palmetto Club on Dorman Road, and race-day registration opens at 6:30 a.m. in the FishHawk Publix parking lot. Organizers ask everyone to arrive an hour before their start because parking and the walk in take time.
