About this adventure

Virginia's most-visited state park covers 2,888 acres inside Virginia Beach. It has 20 miles of trails through bald cypress swamps and lagoons, and 1.5 miles of sandy Chesapeake Bay beach. Families will find picnic areas with an accessible playground, cabins, yurts and campsites, boat ramps and a camp store, and the Trail Center and Visitor Center run ranger programs listed on the state parks events calendar. Weekends are very busy: the park turns cars away once parking is full, so arrive early. Parking fees are waived on Jan 1 and the day after Thanksgiving for state park license-plate holders, among other days.
