Art Studio is the National Portrait Gallery's free, drop-in art program for visitors of all ages. Each weekend session introduces a different artistic medium, with the gallery's collections and exhibitions as the inspiration, and on select weekends a featured guest artist leads a specialized workshop. The Smithsonian calendar lists it on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Education Center, room E151, from October 24 through December 19, 2026; no session is listed on November 28. Admission is free and no registration is required. Guest-artist workshops are announced on the Portrait Gallery's Eventbrite page. The gallery's free Art Walk sketching tour runs just before it, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., and ends with participants invited into the Education Center to keep creating.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation

Read from the Smithsonian's own Trumba events feed (si.edu events calendar), which lists each session as its own entry. The Smithsonian feed does not print this museum's street address and no address page could be read (npg.si.edu/visit returned 403), so only 'Washington, DC' is given. Description says 'every weekend'; the feed lists Saturday sessions only.
