About this adventure

Herndon Parks and Recreation's annual pre-Thanksgiving 5K starts and finishes at the Herndon Community Center on a mixed trail-and-street course, with a 4 p.m. start on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Youth 20 and under pay a reduced fee, and there are age-group prizes starting with a 10-and-under division, so it works for families with school-age runners; every entry includes a can of food donated to the LINK food pantry. Long-sleeve shirts go to the first 450 pre-registered runners and must be collected on race day. Strollers, bikes and dogs are not allowed, runners need to finish within the time limit, and the parking lot fills early.
