The 34th annual Holiday Boat Parade & Party at The Wharf takes place on Saturday, December 5, 2026, from 5 to 9 pm. More than 60 decorated boats parade along the Washington Channel while the piers fill with free holiday activities: kids can decorate ornaments and play games at M Street Landing and have photos taken with Santa in The Grove, and families can try holiday karaoke, ice skating, live music and s'mores at the fire pit beside the 45-foot nautical-themed tree on District Pier. A fireworks finale is shot from a barge over the channel at about 8 pm. The event is free for spectators and no tickets are needed. Crowds are large and the waterfront gets cold, so dress warmly; the organizer suggests Metro to Waterfront Station or the free Wharf Shuttle from L'Enfant Plaza.
