The Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum hosts a free pumpkin decorating workshop on Halloween, Saturday, October 31, 2026, from noon to 3 pm, in its Program Room. Instead of carving, participants paint pumpkins with bold patterns, whimsical characters or abstract designs, or decorate them with dried flowers and greenery — a safer, easier option for young children. All materials are provided. The workshop is open to families, friends and neighbors of all ages; registration is through the museum's Eventbrite page.
