- Organizer
- Madhatters Skating Academy (Atlanta Ice House)
Madhatters Skating Academy runs the Learn to Skate USA program at the Atlanta Ice House in Marietta: 30-minute beginner group classes that follow the national curriculum endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating, taught by certified instructors. Young children start in Snowplow Sam 1–4 (ages 3–6), school-age beginners in Basic 1–6 (ages 7–15), and teens of 16 and older can choose the Basic or Adult track; skaters who pass Basic 6 move on to Pre-Free Skate and Free Skate, and there are hockey skating levels as well. The winter series, 2026HS (Holiday Show Series), runs November 2 to December 19, 2026, with no classes during the Cobb schools Thanksgiving break (November 23–28). Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 PM and Saturday mornings; families pick one, two or three classes a week. Every package includes public skate sessions for practice and a Learn to Skate USA membership welcome packet; missed classes can usually be made up within the series. Skaters do not need their own skates (rentals per class or a rental add-on are offered), and the academy strongly recommends helmets for beginners, gloves and warm, non-bulky layers. Skaters in this series can also join a group number in the academy's Holiday Show on December 20.
