About this adventure

On the second Saturday of November, the Austin Nature & Science Center turns its free Saturday program into Dinovember. Families can stop at the fossil table at any point during the program to compare fossils from prehistoric creatures with the body parts of their modern-day counterparts, and staff explain Texas's ancient underwater past and the fossil evidence that can still be found around Austin. Each child can choose a real fossil to take home. The center's Saturday programs are free, family-friendly science activities of about 30 minutes that run on a drop-in basis through the late morning and early afternoon, so it is easy to combine a visit with the center's animal exhibits, the Dino Pit and a walk in the surrounding Zilker Nature Preserve.
