About this adventure

Downtown Rochester's tree lighting is a compact one-hour evening put on by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce in Central Square. The program opens with a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, then the downtown tree is lit for the season, followed by caroling and dance performances by Studio 109 dancers. Children can decorate a cookie, warm up with free cookies and hot chocolate, and visit with Santa Claus. Families can also bring an item for the chamber's holiday collection, which this year benefits Rochester Childcare Center; look for the red collection sleigh in front of the chamber office. The short format suits young children who cannot stay out late, and it falls two days before the city's big Sunday holiday parade.
