About this adventure
A sensory-friendly performance of Children's Theatre of Charlotte's first-ever production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, the one-act (about 75 minutes) holiday show with the Grinch, Max the dog, Cindy Lou Who and the song "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." This Sunday-morning show is modified for families with children or adults on the autism spectrum or with other sensory sensitivities: stage lighting and sound are softened, the house lights stay on at a dimmed level, there is extra room in the theater to move around, and quiet spaces, headphones, fidgets and other sensory objects are available. The theater publishes a social story — a short illustrated guide to what happens at a sensory-friendly visit — that families can read beforehand. The performance is in the McColl Family Theatre at ImaginOn in Uptown Charlotte and suits all ages. The box office (704-973-2828) can help in advance with any accommodations.
